A large tote bag, woven with cotton and linen featuring a classic Vichy pattern in shades of beige, gray and brown. Made of natural materials with a blend of cotton and linen, the fabric of the bag is woven in our Lyon workshop using traditional methods. A very durable 100% beige cotton lining provides a nice finish and good support. This large capacity bag closes with a gold metal zipper and a gold metal buckle on the straps. 1 interior zipped pocket + 3 interior open pockets 2 large, thick handles in gray cotton: Fixed at 27.56 inches and adjustable up to 53.15 inches. This tote bag is versatile and can be taken everywhere, whether as a weekend bag for short trips or for everyday trips to the office, it easily holds a laptop or tablet and a few files. INSPIRATION

La Fabrique d’écharpe revisits a French fashion classic: Vichy checks. Originally, this pattern comes from a fabric called the “peasant check” and got its name from the French spa town of Vichy. This pattern was particularly popular in the 1960s, with actress Brigitte Bardot becoming its icon. While keeping the initial dimensions of the pattern, we have used an original color scheme in this version.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Made of natural cotton and linen, wash this bag by hand or on a delicate cycle in the washing machine in 30°C water. Be careful when machine washing, it is best to put your bag in a washing pouch to avoid damaging the drum with the metal buckles. To iron, use a low heat with steam.

TRADITIONALLY MADE

This bag’s fabric is known as a Jacquard pattern fabric. Jacquard weaving is a traditional skill originating in Lyon and has been passed down to us from generation to generation for several centuries. Today, La Fabrique d’écharpe’s Jacquard looms are true technological gems, combining speed and quality performance all while respecting the rules of Jacquard weaving. Jacquard weaving began with Joseph-Marie Jacquard, who, in 1801 invented and patented the so-called “Jacquard” technique which automated the production of the pattern by using punched cards. And so the ancestor of the computer was born!
