An additional wash has been performed on this chèche to increase its softness and comfort, as well as its resistance to rubbing and the passage of time. This scarf has been entirely designed and manufactured in our workshop in Lyon, France.
The GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification of this chèche is an international standard that applies to textiles, defining criteria that guarantee the organic nature of the textile. The entire GOTS-certified production process is designed to be socially and environmentally responsible. The aim is to prove the authenticity of organic raw materials to consumers, in terms of processing, manufacturing and packaging, right through to marketing and distribution. GOTS certification aims to define requirements and guarantee the quality of organic textiles offered to consumers, with complete transparency.
INSPIRATION
For this scarf, we took our inspiration from herbariums: huge books of dried flowers laid flat to keep track of all the plant essences we came across on our walks. Our design is made up of several plants juxtaposed one beside the other, organized like an aromatic garden. A scarf so plant-based in its design could only be woven from GOTS (organic) cotton: a cotton that respects the planet.
OUTFIT PAIRING IDEAS
This scarf can be worn in spring and summer over dresses or light jackets in shades of ecru, green, beige or navy. Perfect with a black or brown beige strench coat on rainy days.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To wash an organic cotton scarf, we recommend hand-washing. Ironing should be done over a gentle heat and with steam to preserve all the natural properties of the fibers that make up this scarf. Tumble-drying is forbidden, but dry-cleaning is permitted.
TRADITIONALLY MADE
The Jacquard weaving technique used to make this scarf involves interweaving cotton warp threads with cotton weft threads in a specific pattern. The “La Fabrique d'écharpe” weaving workshop has Jacquard looms for this purpose. The “Jacquard” loom was developed by Joseph Marie Jacquard of Lyon in 1801, and was the first programmable mechanical system with perforated cards to produce patterns by crossing colored threads. Thanks to know-how handed down from generation to generation since 1880, we now have electronically controlled “Jacquard” looms that guarantee the perfect quality of our fabrics while respecting the purest Lyonnais tradition.
